Looking up

17 en 18 augustus bracht ik in het mooie Vrijbroekpark in Mechelen door. ECS challenger cricket toernooi.

De foto toont Ostend Cricket Club aan de slag, de wicket keeper die hier deskundig de bal gevangen heeft, is van Brugge Cricket Club. Een Westvlaamse derby, dus.

Wat ik grappig vind, en ik hoop dat de mannen mij dat niet kwalijk nemen, is dat beide spelers omhoog kijken, terwijl de bal zich eigenlijk al in de handschoenen van de wicket keeper bevindt. Toont wat een snel spelletje cricket is, zo’n harde bal kan gemakkelijk aan meer dan 100 km per uur in de richting van slagman en wicket keeper vliegen.

Ostend Cricket Club speelde de finale maar moest in Mechelen Eagles haar meerdere erkennen. Proficiat met dit resultaat, de finale halen op zo’n toernooi met topclubs is een verdienste.

De foto is nogal korrelig, maar de weersomstandigheden waren niet ideaal en de zoomfactor maximum. 6400 iso.

What humours me, and I hope the players aren’t offended, is that batter and wicket keeper are looking up, while the ball has already been caught with the latter. Shows what a fast game cricket is, the hard ball easily exceeds 100 km/hour as it flies in the direction of batter & wicket keeper.

Ostend Cricket Club played the final in this tournament, but had to bow to the superiority of Mechelen Eagles. But congratulations, reaching the final in this tournament with only top clubs is not a given.

Nieuwe zaak in onze stad voor mensen die hun viervoeters graag verwennen.

Op 17 juli vierde ik mijn 13e verjaardag. Mama had zalm gebakken en ik mocht lekker meesmullen. Ik hou zo van vis.
Hier zie ze mij tijdens een heidewandeling in NL Brabant in de week voor ik 13 werd. 5 km, niet slecht voor een bejaarde hond.

On July 17 I celebrated my 13th birthday. Mummy fried salmon and there was a generous portion for me as well. I love fish.

Happy 10th

Our beautiful boy turned 10 today, and still in good shape and humour.

Flushing – Cornwall

When visiting Cornwall last summer, I was charmed by the simple beauty of the little village of Flushing, just across the Penryn River from the port and docks of Falmouth, separated by Carrick Roads.

It surprises me that this village houses just over 600 inhabitants, it looks too small for that when you walk the narrow streets that weren’t designed for cars to be able to pass one another.

Part of Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, founded in 1661, flushing housed the captains and officers of the packet ships that docked in Falmouth. The village was named after the Dutch village with the same name after Dutch engineers built the 3 main quays in the village.

My cousin proposed this village as a good place to let the dog enjoy the beach and a swim. The beach is not that big, but it is dog friendly.

Overloonse Fungi

With everything that has been going on the past years, there has been little room for photography and blogging.

We did find time to visit Overloon in the Netherlands during the autumn holiday last year.

Fantastic dunes they have there, great nature. And the fungi were out asking to be photographed.

Alles wat de afgelopen jaren gebeurde liet weinig ruimte voor fotografie en bloggen.

Wij vonden wel tijd om Overloon in Nederland te bezoeken de afgelopen herfstvakantie.

Prachtige duinen hebben ze daar, mooie natuur. En de paddo’s vroegen om gefotografeerd te worden.

Happy 9th birthday to Vinyl, our black flatcoated retriever.

This photo was taken 2 weeks ago in Cornwall – England. The foxred coloured 2 year old labrador is Brandy, Vinyl’s new cousin. Took 2 years to meet Brandy because of the C-thing.

Gelukkige 9e verjaardag Vinyl, onze zwarte flatcoated retriever.

De foto is 2 weken oud, gemaakt in Cornwall – Engeland. De vosenrode 2 jaar oude labrador is Brandy, Vinyl’s nieuwe kozijn. De pandemie liet ons 2 jaar wachten om deze lieve schoonheid te ontmoeten.
