Liam & John

Just like me, Liam Gallagher is a great fan of John Lennon. But Liam did what I dared not: he named his son Lennon. Yoko Ono told him she thought it was a silly name and that she feared the boy would get teased because of it. Liam replied that it is a bit silly being called Yoko. They ended up having a cup of tea.

Liam Gallagher en ik hebben toch een iets gemeen: wij zijn fan van John Lennon. Maar Liam deed iets waarvoor ik niet de moed had: hij noemde zijn zoon Lennon. Yoko Ono zei dat ze het een gekke naam vond en dat ze vreesde dat de jongen er mee gepest zou worden. Liam antwoordde dat hij Yoko maar een geke naam vond. Ze bezegelden deze discussie met een kopje thee.

RIP Guitar Man

Went to see off Patrick Henno yesterday. He was only 62. I’ll miss him, he was one of the good guys. Condolences to his family and to the band members and musicians he shared his life with.

Music to my Ears

I’m in a bit of a funny mood today. Been looking in my archives for half an hour for a photo to post. That is what you get when you do not have a new theme ready.
Love the headstock of this string instrument. Photo taken about 3 years ago in the museum for musical instruments in Brussels.

Ben in een rare bui vandaag. Ben een half uur op zoek geweest naar een foto om te posten. Dat krijg je natuurlijk wanneer je geen nieuw thema bedacht hebt.

Ik hou enorm van de ‘headstock’ (hoe zeg je dat ook weer in ’t Nederlands?) van dit snaarinstrument. Ik nam deze foto bijna 3 jaar geleden in het museum voor muziekinstrumenten in Brussel.

Joe Mullen

Back to the end of June and our city organised a summer kick-off. My customer Joe Mullen was performing in the Langestraat, the nightlife street of our city. Joe is an Irishman who sings folk. He has an album out. I really enjoyed his singing, great band with skilled musicians.

Terug naar het einde van juni wanneer onze stad een summer kick-off organiseerde. Mijn klant Joe Mullen trad op in de Langestraat, de uitgaansstraat in onze stad. Joe is een Ier die folk zingt. Hij heeft zelfs een album uit. Ik genoot van zijn zang, goede band ook met getalenteerde muzikanten.

Wasdaman

Last Sunday we went to VrijstaatO in Oostende to witness a try-out of jazz formation #wasdaman. I enjoyed it very much, my kind of jazz. They hope to bring their first album out in 2019.

Vorige zondag gingen wij naar VrijstaatO in Oostende om er de try-out van jazz formatie #wasdaman bj te wonen. Ik genoot er van, mijn soort jazz. Ze hopen om in 2019 hun eerste album te kunnen releasen.

Organ Recital

The mail hall of the Kelvingrove arts gallery and museum in Glasgow hosts an impressive organ. Every afternoon a recital is held. The hall packs with interested listeners.

I recorded the sound of the organ and wanted  to add it to this post. But you need to upgrade to a paying account to be able to do that.

De hoofdhal in het Kelvingrove museum en kunstgalerij is een indrukwekkende orgel rijk. Elke namiddag is er een recital. De hall loop dan vol met geïnteresseerde luisteraars.

Ik wou een stuk van de muziek hier met jullie delen, maar ontdekte daardoor dat je naar een betalende account moet upgraden om dit te kunnen doen.
