European Championships Inline Skating

Spent the afternoon at the European Championships Inline Skating. Had a good lunch there and saw great athletes at work. Here, in the middle with the white helmet, Stien Vanhoutte is coming out of the bend ready to push Anke Vos off. Together with Sandrine Tas in the relay team seniors they won the European Championships.

Ik bracht de namiddag door op de Europese kampioenschappen skeeleren. Lekkere lunch en machtige prestaties door de atleten. Hier zie je in het midden met de witte  helm, Stien Vanhoutte. Ze komt net uit de bocht om Anke Vos op gang te duwen. Samen met Sandrine Tas wonnen ze de finale op de Europese kampioenschappen bij de senioren.

World Cup Vinyl

Best of luck to Belgian’s Red Devils tonight. This is Vinyl during their last match. He does not really understand what all the excitement is about. He is not allowed to join and chase the ball.

Veel geluk Rode Duivels vanavond. Dit is Vinyl tijdens hun vorige match. Hij verstaat niet goed waarom iedereen zo opgewonden geraakt. Hij mag niet meedoen en achter de bal aanzitten.

Playing Bowls

Ik ben redelijk tevreden over deze foto die ik van op het bovendek van de bus maakte. Bowls op het grafveld aan de voorzijde van het Kelvingrove museum en kunstcentrum.

B&W Sport

My final photo in this B&W exercise takes me back to a favourite subject. I can hear some of you thinking ‘young girls’ and I cannot deny that this is a photo of young girls. But the idea is sport. You can always find me in full admiration when the demoteam does its thing, these young women are really well trained. And they bring a great performance as well. Respect for the trainers who do very well with this team.

Mijn laatste foto in deze wit/zwart oefening doet mij naar een lievelingsonderwerp grijpen. En nu hoor ik sommigen natuurlijk denken ‘jonge meisjes’ en ik kan natuurlijk niet ontkennen dat deze foto jonge meisjes bevat. Maar het idee is eigenlijk sport. En je vindt mij steeds in volle bewondering wanneer het demoteam zijn ding doet. Deze jonge dames zijn heel goed getraind en brengen een mooi optreden. Respect voor de trainers die het heel goed doen met dit team.

Water Sport

Maybe I could go somewhere I can enjoy some water sport.

Misschien kan ik ergens gaan waar ik wat water sport kan doen.

Young Chess

They start playing chess young in Kortrijk.

In Kortrijk beginnen ze er jong aan.

Bigger Game

This brave young girl was taking on a bigger game than my son. And someone in the background either cares more for billiards or did not understand the concept of chess.

Deze moedige jonge dame ging voor een groter spel dan mijn zoon. En iemand in de achtergrond heeft het ofwel meer voor biljard, ofwel begrijpt ze het concept schaak verkeerd.

Chess

Time for some more serious stuff. A grandmaster from my son’s chess club in Kortrijk was taking on all who was willing in a game of simultaneous chess. And my boy was game.

Tijd voor iet serieus. Een grootmeester van mijn zoon’s schaakclub in Kortrijk daagde al wie wilde uit tot een spelletje simultaanschaak. En mij zoon zag dat wel zitten.

Girls in the Triathlon

Had to  wait a bit longer, but then the girls started passing in the quarter triathlon.

Moest nog wat langer wachten, maar dan begonnen de meisjes voorbij te lopen in de kwarttriatlon.
