Happy 9th

Happy 9th birthday to Vinyl, our black flatcoated retriever.

This photo was taken 2 weeks ago in Cornwall – England. The foxred coloured 2 year old labrador is Brandy, Vinyl’s new cousin. Took 2 years to meet Brandy because of the C-thing.

De foto is 2 weken oud, gemaakt in Cornwall – Engeland. De vosenrode 2 jaar oude labrador is Brandy, Vinyl’s nieuwe kozijn. De pandemie liet ons 2 jaar wachten om deze lieve schoonheid te ontmoeten.

Sunny Beach Weather

We have been blessed by the weather all week here on Schouwen-Duiveland. The photo shows Vinyl on the beach at Renesse earlier this week, we actually had lunch on a terrace outside on the beach. The big storm is starting to hit here, advice is to stay inside after lunchtime. But we are behind a tall dyke, so we should be OK.

Al gans de week gezegend door het weer hier op Schouwen-Duiveland. In de foto zie je Vinyl op het strand te Renesse eerder deze week. Wij lunchten er op een buitenterras op het strand.
De grote storm is hier intussen aangekomen, er wordt gevraagd om na de middag binnen te blijven. Maar wij logeren net achter een hoge dijk, dus ik maak mij weinig zorgen.

Port Greve

Needed some R&R after a busy January, December, November… month. Vinyl likes the garden of our holiday home in Port Greve on the Dutch island of Schouwen Duiveland.

Wij hadden nood aan wat rust en relaxatie na een drukken januari, december, november… maand. Vinyl vindt de tijn van ons vakantieverblijf in Port Greve op het Nederlandse eiland Schouwen-Duiveland alvast dik in orde.

Autumn

De vakantieweek is met mooi weer gestart. Hond geniet van het strand.

Closing Day

Yesterday was our shop’s closing day. So I took Vinyl to the beach yesterdaymorning. He was rather game for a swim.

Gisteren sluitingsdag van de winkel. Dus ik trok met Vinyl naar het strand. Hij had duidelijk zin in zwemmen.

Canisha

Leaving the beach after my walk with Vinyl, I noticed that Radio 2 had set up camp on the seafront. I strolled to have a look and was attracted by the set-up by Canisha, a non profit organisation that raises and provides help dogs.

I stayed for a demonstration and was impressed by it.

Here the dog is helping its owner to undress. To save the girl embarassment this was limited to a glove. But the dog does help in removing trousers, jumpers and so on. And it does this very expertly so as not to hurt the owner.

Toen ik deze morgen het strand verliet na de wandeling met Vinyl, zag ik dat Radio 2 kamp opgeslagen had op de Zeedijk. Ik ging een blikje werpen en werd aangetrokken door Canisha, een VZW die hulphonden opvoedt en opvolgt.

Ik bleef kijken naar een demonstratie en was onder de indruk.

Hier helpt de hond met het uitkleden. Om het meisje niet in verlegenheid te brengen wordt de oefening hier beperkt tot een handschoen. Maar in de praktijk helpt de hond met het uittrekken van broeken, truien en zo meer. En ze doet het heel voorzichtig om de eigenaar niet te kwetsen.

RIP Gerda

A while ago a dedicated a post to the loss of my friend Patrick Henno. This set me thinking that I never did the same back in April when Gerda was taken from us just as sudden.

I think it is because somehow we were too close and I was too touched by her sudden death. We’d known each other a long time and Gerda had always been very supportive, there were times when we communicated on a daily basis.

So I would like to thank her for what she meant to me, I will remain her friend for ever. Haven’t been in touch with Guido since she passed away, but my warm feelings towards him remain.

Een tijdje terug postte ik naar aanleiding van de afscheid van mijn vriend Patrick Henno. Dit deed mij denken dat ik niets deed wanneer Gerda ons even plots verliet in april.

Ik denk dat dit komt doordat Gerda en ik te close waren en ik diep geraakt werd door haar plotse overlijden. Wij kenden elkaar al heel lang en Gerda heeft mij altijd gesteund, er waren tijden wanneer wij dagelijks met elkaar communiceerden.

Dus ik wil haar bedanken voor wat ze voor mij betekend heeft, ik blijf eeuwig haar vriend.
Met Guido heb ik geen contact meer gehad sinds Gerda ons verliet, maar mijn warme gevoelens voor hem blijven.

Early Beach

A big advantage of going to the beach early in the morning is that you tend to have it nearly all to yourself. For the energetic black monster just coming over the beachhead, it is less warm, so he can stand his black fur coat better.
It means getting up nice and early, but with weather like this, that is really carpe diem.

Troy

No, this is not Vinyl, it is Troy, Vinyl’s father. Still a good looking dog even at the age of 10. Photo taken on November 4, 2018. Vinyl had to go in conflict with his poor old dad, I had to drag him off.

Neen, dit is niet Vinyl, het is Troy, de papa van Vinyl. Hij ziet er nog goed uit voor zijn gezegende leeftijd van 10. Foto genomen op 4 november 2018. Vinyl moest natuurlijk weer in conflict treden met zijn arme oude vader, ik moest hem er af sleuren.

World Animal Day

I could see photos of pets on FB and came to the conclusion it is World Animal Day. And checking I have just found out that it was yesterday. Really not with it anymore.

So I’m posting a photo of Vinyl today. The photo is just over 1 year old, he had just turned 4 then. A friend remarked recently that I haven’t been posting pictures of Vinyl.

I guess my career change a year ago did not benefit my hobby.

Ik zag op FB foto’s van huisdieren en kwam tot het besef dat het wereld dieren dag is. Toen ik checkte ontdekte ik dat dat gisteren was. Ik ben niet meer mee.

Dus post ik vandaag een foto van Vinyl. De foto is net meer dan 1 jaar oud, hij pas pas 4 geworden. Een vriend merkte op dat ik recent geen foto’s meer post van hem.

Mijn carrière switch heeft mijn hobby vermoord.
